Shanghai Church

The chanting filled the space as we quietly walked through the cathedral.  In Mandarin and in unison, the women said the rosary waiting for the service to begin.  The faithful knelt at the altar and closed their eyes in reverence.  I found myself transcended to a peaceful place and the worries of the morning disappeared.  As we left the church I thought to myself that the true measure of friendship has to be to share quiet.  If you can be together and not need to talk, that is truly something.
