Vacation – Solitude

I love the Information Age – throwing my thoughts and adventures into a blog as a legacy for little a and J. Sometimes though it is like walking into a cloud of gnats… news, correspondence, photos buzzing around my head with no way of getting in and sticking. That’s the point where a vacation ceases to be a choice and becomes a necessity. For me, luxury is time and peace and quiet. There is something powerful about sitting on a beach feeling the rhythms of the sea that renews one.

We used to vacation in the Caribbean on St. John’s Island. The beaches were pristine and free of crowds. We would soak in the sun and surf and before long quiet would turn to conversation and connection. We haven’t been in years but these photos remind me of our days there.
