I like the intimacy and community of a small boutique hotel on holiday, preferring the personal attention and service. It isn’t implied exclusivity. Rather, a connection to the destination and all it has to offer mixed with the chance to meet like minded people and share their experiences. I find that harder to do in a big hotel. We have done both, but I prefer vacations on a smaller scale. Boutique hotels are perfect – eclectic – fun. And the search for the perfect one is part of the excitement in planning a vacation. I find the thought of a bed and breakfast completely unappealing. That is too much intimacy and community.
Funny, but it sounds a bit like Goldilocks and the porridge. One was too big. One too small. And one just right. That is how I feel about a great Boutique Hotel.
