Hotel Brondums is a historic and lovely hotel in what is today the center of town. The building was originally located near the beach but with the shifting sands and expansion of the port, it now sits a manageable and quaint walk from the beach. It is named for a Captain in the merchant navy and became a focal point for the Skagen painters. The Ancher’s home is adjacent and it makes for a lovely afternoon to tour the home and then share a Danish lunch, some Skagen beer and a glass of Schnapps. We had a tremendous guide named Hannah who shared her town, the history and the experiences and I would highly recommend her to anyone visiting the town.
Visually the simplicity of one candlestick on a table was simple and elegant and beautiful.
