Most Friday nights find me on a plane commuting from Dallas Texas to Orange County California. The recent find of Juliette Kitchen and Bar has made landing in this idyllic setting even better. Our routine has become a drive by pick up and a dash to this quaint and busy little restaurant tucked, as we like to say, amidst the birds in Newport. Not the most beautiful of locations next to the tollway, but worth finding and we invariably see the Donato, the mayor of the center working the bar and parking lot.
The small plates are delicious. We are big fans of nearly all them with specific fondness for the cauliflower ,the gnocchi, the squid and the mussels. Perfect with a Pinot and great conversation. It closes the week beautifully and is the perfect start to the weekend. A short drive home, the sea breezes and an assured night of sound sleep and I am right as rain. But not of course before we close with the pictured salted caramel pot de creme. Ah… perfection in a mason jar.
