Alaska: Denali National Park

It is hard to do justice to the beauty of Denali National Park and Preserve – six million acres of wilderness. I am not sure I fully appreciated the word “Wilderness” until I spent time traversing the only road into and out of this park and preserve. I was inspired to think of Thoreau and read Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer – a story deeply rooted as much in Thoreau as in Alaska; a story of the yin and yang of the wild – beauty and savagery. It was awe-inspiring offering changing vistas with each turn in the road. And in the final analysis, I left with a greater commitment to preserving our natural resources and wild life. We cannot continue to take for granted the gifts the earth provides.

    • It was just the two of us – memory of a lifetime. It was a cruise and some excursions hosted by the cruise-line. I cannot say enough good things about Silverseas.
