It had been years since I had been in a helicopter and my experience was very different from the one we had in Juneau. Five of us climbed into the tiny cabin with our pilot to begin the experience of a lifetime. Slowly we pulled up and over the beautiful lush landscape below peppered with the unmistakable shots of fireweed. Before you knew it we were there – first at the Herbert Glacier and then later at the Mendenhall Glacier – all part of the Juneau ice field. Words fail me. It was so breathtakingly, stunningly beautiful, with a blue indescribable. I stood there, next to my Dad, counting my many blessings for the beauty and joy that surrounds us. I will never forget it.
