In our last port before Vancouver we took yet another type of travel – float plane. This time we flew over the fjords surrounding Ketchikan.Misty Fjords National Monument is also known as the Yosemite of the North. Upon entering the plane, the pilot asked for a volunteer to copilot. I had been tipped off by my dear friend KC and I immediately took the chance to sit right up front. I had unobstructed views of the wilderness below and the mist that gently hangs over the lush greenery. Landing and taking off on a float plane is gentle. The plane slightly tips to the side and you are off. We landed among the trees on a lake and I stood upon the float to take a few photos. It was incredibly peaceful – a magical forest.
