Alaska: Sweet Endings

And so our trip came to an end. I still marvel at the perfection of it all. I chose these as the last photographs from the series for a number of reasons. The chocolate was in our room upon arrival and I confess to having a few pieces. Largely, the empty spaces of the box were consumed by my Dad who has an unrivaled sweet tooth. Early in the trip I mentioned to the darling Negi, our butler, that my Dad loved ice cream. Each afternoon a dish of ice cream appeared. Donuts and pastries served as breakfast dessert, cookies for lunch and some yummy concoction at dinner. He has a saying – “life is short, eat dessert first.” The time on ship was short and he made the most of every dessert opportunity.

It is bittersweet that the trip is behind us but the memories linger sweetly.
