Recipe for a friend

Take one part circumstance, add one part consideration, a dash of creativity, a shot of common ground, a bunch of smiles and you have a friend.

I really can’t recall the first time I met SW but I do remember the pivotal moment when we started becoming friends. I was on a trip to Asia visiting Australia and Singapore. It was a grueling trip made less so by his company and creativity. He invested the time to make it incredibly special and I have this treasure as a result. The diary he made by hand. He engaged the region in storytelling about themselves and their cities. It is peppered with ingredients that were a part of our dish at the time… and photographs. This was the beginning of my interest in photography and our shared common ground. He has taught me so much and through those experiences we have shared lots of smiles.

Today, the diary rests on a stack of books in my personal office – a constant reminder that the best things start with heart.
