The Seine

The Seine

Just as I rounded the corner to cross to Ile de la Cite the rain began to fall – lightly at first and then more forcefully. I came behind Notre Dame with the intention of stopping in a small wine shop to buy a bottle for CF and me to share before heading out to dinner. Once inside though, as I searched for wines familiar to me from the trip, the skies opened. With my purchase in hand, I stood beneath the awning watching people crowd together under umbrellas to avoid getting wet. It was magical. A lovely breeze, the sound of the rain, and the fresh scent one only gets after a deluge made me wish for being with CF back in our room facing the hotel garden. As it began to subside, I headed across the Seine only to be stopped in my tracks by the sheer beauty of the sky and the city.
