It was a beautiful Saturday. The rains of the week had cleaned the air and there was a visceral crispness to the morning as I stepped on the front stoop. There, I shot my first photo. I had decided to walk the neighborhood – something I have done since we moved here but more rigorously so in the last few weeks – only this time with my camera. For the last few weeks I have shot only with my Leica. This trip I went out with my old friend, the Nikon D600.
One of the challenges of photography is to look for inspiration and when one becomes so familiar with the subject, finding something worthy of study becomes more difficult. I feel as though I know this neighborhood so well the challenge became finding inspiration in the familiar while spending time outside enjoying the perfect weather.
