On this Sunday morning the truck stands idle – tools neatly placed. It is said that the seventh day is for rest and so I consider idle hands as they spend the day doing things other than toil. Southern California is a gardener’s paradise despite the drought and sandy soil. Sprinklers sit idle as water is conserved and gardener’s work to keep the beautiful green lawns from browning. Our’s is filled with indigenous plants and is beautiful despite the dry conditions – gaining in color and glory as the surrounding lawns wither in the poor conditions. For me it is a bigger issue of becoming happy with what you have and what the world has to offer. When did it become so important to be something that we are not?
